A Plaintiff may be invited by the insurance company, or required by the court, to submit to a medical examination for the specific purpose of validating the Plaintiff’s alleged injuries. The doctors who perform the exams will testify about your injures on behalf of the insurance company. The insurance company pays the doctor’s fees. The doctor, in an IME, is not examining the Plaintiff for the purpose of treatment of relief of the Plaintiff’s symptoms. Rather, the doctor is assessing the Plaintiff to obtain information that will allow the insurance company to verify and in some cases rebut the Plaintiff’s injury allegation. It is important to be honest about your injuries when attending these examinations they often color the outcome of the case.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Your Lawyer Yaniv Spielberg:

I love all extreme sports

I am a self-proclaimed Chess Master

Before I became a lawyer, I was a scientist and published 6 scientific papers

I don’t like sweets, at all!

No, I am not related to Steven Spielberg (at least not that I know of)

#AskYanivSpielberg Medical examinations or Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) are also known as “adverse” or “compulsory” medical examinations.
