{"id":2410,"date":"2013-11-06T08:00:09","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T08:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/68.183.99.185\/diamondlaw-ca\/?p=2410"},"modified":"2019-02-02T08:30:47","modified_gmt":"2019-02-02T08:30:47","slug":"update-sandra-zisckind-discusses-recent-pedestrian-vehicle-collisions-within-two-hour-span","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diamondlaw.ca\/update-sandra-zisckind-discusses-recent-pedestrian-vehicle-collisions-within-two-hour-span\/","title":{"rendered":"Update: Sandra Zisckind discusses recent pedestrian-vehicle collisions within two-hour span"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday, an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/diamondlaw.ca\/blog\/another-6-pedestrians-hit-on-toronto-streets\">article<\/a>&nbsp;was posted about the five pedestrians that were struck by vehicles in only a few short hours (between 4:40 and 6:30 pm), including a sixth pedestrian struck early Wednesday morning.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sandra Zisckind spoke to the incident on the Global News Hour:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Pedestrians, of course, have nothing cushioning them.&#8221; According to Sandra, &#8220;when a pedestrian hits the pavement, they end up with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/diamondlaw.ca\/practice-areas\/brain-injury-toronto\">brain injuries<\/a>, orthopedic injuries and fractures.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Constable Clint Stibbe was also available for comment, revealing that most pedestrians are struck while a car is turning left. According to Stibe, &#8220;when we look at last year&#8217;s number for collisions with pedestrians, 307 of those collisions were left turns, right turns was 204 and mid-block crossings was 198. So those are the top 3 reasons for pedestrians getting hit.
