Last week my wonderful brother and fellow lawyer at Diamond and Diamond,\u00a0Isaac Zisckind<\/a>, was wholly successful at the\u00a0Ontario Court of Appeal<\/a>, arguing that an insurance company cannot be relieved of its responsibilities to its clients based on technicalities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The legislation surrounding insurance law is so complex and convoluted it can make even the most educated person\u2019s head spin. That is why most personal injury lawyers, such as myself, only specialize in personal injury. This type of law is very difficult to \u201cdabble\u201d in.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Good Personal Injury Lawyers Know How to Adapt<\/h2>\r\n

The law is consistently changing and evolving and a good personal injury lawyer needs to be on top of all the changes. When you are seriously injured, you need someone who knows the law inside and out; I would suggest it\u2019s better to have a lawyer who specializes in personal injury.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As we saw last week with Isaac\u2019s triumph, the insurance company will fight if it means it will not have to pay out. Its mandate is to make a profit \u2013 it is a business after all. That is why I always tell clients it is better to have a good team behind you from the get-go, so you are not left fixing problems and mistakes afterwards.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
